Exploring food as a nourishment for the body and soul...

Deep Loves Food

I dream of food...

Food with meaning

It doesn't take a lot - just one dish - done well - can be gratifying and put you in an excellent mood for the day, looking forward to the next one, while savoring the last!  The focus here is simply highlighting individual dishes.  It doesn't matter whether the dishes are from a Michelin star restaurant or a simple taqueria around the corner - a good dish is a good dish.  What satisfies is the flavor, the smell, the texture, the confluence of flavors, the juxtaposition of texture and mouth-feel.  Whether its innovative, whether there's a surprise factor, whether it's a twist on something familiar, and most importantly - whether it's been made with love.

My goal is to try a lot of food, and highlight some of them here.  I'm also going to try a bunch of food and perhaps come up with some interesting recipes as well, in the process!
Food must have meaning.  Food is a story, a therapy, and an emotion.  In my search for food with meaning, I came across yoga retreats and their practices and teachings.  Studying this further, I loved the way the different movements ('aasanaas') helped restore and strengthen specific muscles and areas of the body.  Food should be used as a 'therapy' in some senses, to help cure, rehabilitate, engage, and enliven different aspects of your body.

So I embarked on learning how different ingredients interact with different elements of the body in a variety of ways, and began experimenting with ingredients for specific purposes of self-restoration.  The findings are exciting and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you.
